A friend of mine, Anthony McKeown, started a noble business: fighting human trafficking in the USA. I have to admire someone who would spend so much of their time and money so selflessly. More importantly, me and others want to do something about a problem we know about but don’t know what to do about it. Prayer by itself is good, but God often answers prayer through human action (see the entire book of Ruth for example).
Here are some quick stats about human trafficking:
- Estimated number of victims: 30-40 Million worldwide * 250,000 in the U.S.
- Rapidly growing in all 50 United States
- 1% ARE BEING RESCUED
- Of those trafficked for sex in the U.S. nearly 70% are women & 30% children
- After entering the sex industry, the average life expectancy is 7-10 years
