“I awake, and I am still with you.”
-Psalm 139:18
As someone who has sinfully asked, “God, are you asleep?” when I read this, three things stand out to me: 1) I am reminded that God is not “asleep” but is faithfully keeping watch over us. 2) Also, since the Psalms are first about Christ, when Christ was “formed” in the womb, and he *awoke* as a man, the Father was still *with* him in heaven. 3) And since God added humanity to himself, and since we are therefore *united* with him in faith, we awake every morning, knowing he is truly with us also.
