I sit here and wait for the day to end
The sun is low and feels good on my face
It’s been a long time since the days were long
And while I work
I feel better somehow
Than I have in a long time
For the sound of a common grackle
Singing praises to it’s Maker
Spring is here and the death of winter is defeated
I miss the song
I listened to it long
During younger days outside
On a squeaky swingset with my sister
Breathing in real air
Without a care in the world
I long for that Spring
To come again and stay forever
For now I’m thankful for the song of grackles
